The 2010 Fourth of July Celebration
When: Sunday, July 4

The annual Ames Place 4th of July Picnic and Parade will take place on Sunday, July 4. As always, we are in need of volunteers to make it happen. Please pitch in!
The location of the celebration has changed to the 6800 block of Kingsbury.
Decorate your wagons, bikes, strollers, dogs and yourselves in red, white and blue and join us for a great day! We'll have a Fun Run, a parade, a picnic, volleyball, bike races and more activities for the kids!
TIMELINE:
8:30 a.m. - One mile and 5K Fun Run. Assemble at 8:30 at the corner of Kingsbury and Kingsland.
10:00 a.m. - The band assembles at 6906 Waterman. Dust off your instruments and join us! See below for contact information.
10:15 - 10:30 a.m. - Everyone assembles at the corner of Trinity and Pershing for the parade.
10:30 a.m. - The parade (that's YOU), led by the U City Fire Department leaves the corner of Pershing and Trinity.
- East down Pershing to Melville
- North on Melville to Kingsbury
- West on Kingsbury in the EASTBOUND lane (going the "wrong way" down the street).
The parade will end at the intersection of Kingsbury and Kingsland Avenues. And the picnic begins!
11:00 a.m. - Picnic at the 6800 block of Kingsbury. Enjoy brats, dogs, chips, sno-cones, and cold beer/soda/juice.
1:30 p.m.- Grown-up Street Volleyball. Bring a team or come alone and Mike Wagner will match you with a team. Meet in the 6900 block of Pershing by 1:30 p.m.
Join the Band!
Do you play an instrument? We invite musicians of all ages and abilities to join the world famous Ames Place 4th of July Festival Marching Band. This includes grade school and high school musicians, college students on break, grown adults - and friends of all of the above. A flyer will be delivered to your home soon.

VOLUNTEER!
As always, we need YOU to make it all happen. Please consider volunteering in one of these roles:
- Shopping (Ames Place reimburses you)
- Organizing the Fun Run
- Parade monitors (parents to keep kids away from the fire truck and police cars)
- Organizing kid's activities
- Set-up / tear-down / clean-up
- Cooking (we cook ahead of time, not on-site)
- Serving
- Sno-cone'ing
